  • "Your dishes were out-of-this world delicious..."

I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful evening we spent with you and Nikhat, and the magical event you created for the scented dinner. Your dishes were out-of-this world delicious, the scented ingredients combining in such unusual ways that surprised yet never overpowered. I loved your stories too, and your knowledge of perfume and scent. I worked in the scent business for a long time and back in the day gave a scented breakfast – I always loved that link of smell and taste.

  • "Wished there were more stars to give"

Thank you so much Pratap for another outstanding dinner! I’ve reviewed and wished there were more stars to give. You guys always seem to surprise and delight us. Almost seems like a dinner and a show, at least a show of laughter, that’s for sure! And what a beautiful garden you have. I’m hoping to come earlier for the Hawaiian dinner and enjoy a drink in your little oasis.

  • "I turned around and you were gone...poof!!! And like magic our kitchen was spotless! "

A huge thank you to you for last night. The food was  amazing, even better for lunch today. What a dream team you are. Thank you so much for everything, I am truly grateful. We had such a great evening thanks to you.

  • "Gastronomic and olfactory genius"

Pratap Chahal, you are a gastronomic and olfactory genius.

Just got home from a private Grub Club where Pratap created, cooked and presented a menu around the scent of smell. You could taste the scents (top, middle and base notes).

Each course came with a beautiful story of the history and geography of the scent.

    One word my friend. Foodgasm.

  • "We will certainly be in touch again"

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say how much we all enjoyed Saturday evening. Our guests really enjoyed the surprise and all have said how wonderful it was. The food was absolutely fantastic, and the wines complimented the food perfectly.

We will certainly be in touch again. Once again thanks to you and Nikhat for making our evening so special.

  • "Set an extremely high precedent for the future"

Outstanding quality food and a lot of it too – this was our first grub club and has set an extremely high precedent for the future – thank you for a wonderful evening. We particularly enjoyed the yoghurt kebab which was utterly divine and the jasmine infused creme brûlée – wow!

  • "Lullaby Trust"

I am writing to say a huge and most sincere thank you for so kindly donating the spectacular hamper for the luxury raffle at our Musical Soirée at Lambeth Palace last night. I am delighted to tell you that the event was a success and in total raised £40,060. This is truly an incredible amount and will prove transformational to the charity. I am so grateful to you for your help in enabling us to achieve this target.

  • "Like a bhangra dance on your tongue"

Pratap’s wonderful meal reflected his exploration of the roots of Indian cuisine and the legacy of the Mughal dynasty. This was a culinary history lesson as well as a taste sensation. Far removed from anyone’s normal impressions of curry. Highlights were the subtle spicing and combinations of flavours and textures. Like a bhangra dance on your tongue. The sweet flavours of dried fruit and nuts were carefully balanced in each dish and our take home goody bag of Pratap’s latest creation made for a perfect supper club evening in lively company. We shall return!

  • "Hot in Holloway"

It was a curiosity being in somebody’s home, but Through the Keyhole nosiness aside, it soon felt very comfortable. That Hungry Chef was witty, friendly and highly informative, especially when explaining one of the most amazing desserts of my life (I’ve had a few), an Indian style creme brulee that has a heady wisp of smoked cloves escape your pot when the lid is removed. Travel from wherever you are, to get to this amazing meal.

  • "The Most Beautiful Food in the World"

This is my third grub club with That Hungry Chef and each time I am more astounded than the last time.

I’m still dreaming of that Confit Duck Vindaloo. And that smoky jaggery creme brulee filled me with delight from the moment I lifted that little lid and the smoke ebbed its way towards me – and that was before I even got to taste it. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, BOOM. Pratap delivered a knock-out punch with the best dessert in the world. And just when I thought that was it, out came the handmade chocolate chili truffles.

Pratap and Nikhat, does your magic ever end??

  • "Shall I compare thee to a summers day?"

Absolutely fantastic. That Hungry Chef is innovative and creative as ever. Flawlessly combining French Haut Cuisine, with subtle and delicious Indian flavours. Vindaloo Duck Confit, Jaggery Crème Brûle, both absolute perfection, with twists that take them beyond anything I’ve ever had in France. What a brilliant night out with the GC team. To be spoilt by Pratap and his lovely wife Nikhat’s, charming and warm hospitality, yet again. And after a wonderful meal, we had a walk through their gorgeous garden for a quick nightcap, before regrettably departing from their warm hospitality.

  • Is this my favourite Grub Club?

Its definitely up there, Pratap and Nikhat are just amazing hosts, the food is better than any of the Michelin level Indian restaurants I have been too – the price is even better too.

And the home!! And the garden. Stunning!

  • "It's a bit of a blinder"

I know what you’re thinking and no, I’m not being biased. For a full and in depth review, including pictorial evidence of the night go to….

Otherwise, take the risk and pop along to the next night. It’s a bit of a blinder, be prepared for fun, frolics, feasting on great food and the obligatory shot at the end of the night!

  • "Pratap you rock!"

What a fantabulous evening. Pratap and his lovely wife were gracious and fun hosts and the food was out of this world. They really made it a very special evening. I’ll be back!

  • "Amazing food, atmosphere and hosts"

The decoration which had amazing items – chairs, sculptures, paintings – was a sign that the dinner was prepared by a chef with a good taste 🙂

The food was dreamy, and it came with fascinating descriptions / stories.
Beyond the wonderful food, very friendly and lovely hosts made the night unforgettable.

  • "The perfect dinner"

What a fantastic evening. I consider myself an Indian food aficionado but this is quite honestly the best Indian food I’ve ever had.

Both delicate yet incredibly complex, Pratap really managed to awaken every sense and taste bud, with an explosion of the most amazing flavours and textures. That yoghurt kebab was out of the world, like nothing I’ve ever eaten. And the venison – so tender and flavourful, marrying so well with the black lentils. Everything was to die for.

And the hosts themselves were the most welcoming and warming hosts you can imagine. Friendly, warm, fun, so much fun, so generous and with incredible attention to detail, in the most beautiful setting.

As I said, it was the perfect dinner!

  • "Wonderful food, great hosts"

We had such a wonderful evening with amazing food – smoked turnip in two ways was amazing! And the black lentils were to die for. Both hosts were such fun, so kind and made us feel so welcome.

Loved it, particularly the really different stuff – smoked turnips and yoghurt kebabs. Also really appreciated the descriptions of what you were serving.
